AV Master HANGUP at winboot

I have a weird problem, and I really really hope anyone can help.

I recently bought a new pc (PIII DUAL 800MHZ, MSI694 PRO AIR BOARD with 256 SDRAM and a 7200 rpm HD) to get my film-editing room up to speed. Before this I had a PI 166MHZ computer. Naturally I hooked up my AVMASTER 98 to the new pc (It worked perfectly on my old computer).

I have NO problems getting win98 to recognize my AVmaster card (no conflicts of any sort).
But as soon as I install the latest AV drivers, windows hangs on startup and AVMASTER led number 4 blinks.
The hangup unfortunatly happens after the bootlog.txt is closed.

So I have NO idea what the problem is. It can't be a hardware failure because it is perfectly recognized, but that is the only thing what has been changed since I used it on my old computer. Maybe it's a VIA-chipset problem?

PLEASE HELP ME, I NEED TO EDIT A FILM!

Hi, I'm using windows 98. But I used this on the old pc also.
Maybe it has something to do with my VIA chipset on the motherboard?

Thanks for helping,
Fili.

It could still be a problem with IRQ's. Remember, AV Master needs its own IRQ between 9 and 15. Also check the memory address - there is Technote on www.dazzle-europe.com which explains how to asign a memory address to AV Master. It would also be worth trying the AV Master in every PCI slot.

Finally, make sure you have installed the latest AV Master software, version 2.5 build 0019, from the Dazzle Europe website.

If none of these suggestions solve the problem, only then can we conclude that it is caused by the VIA chipset.

Hi,

I have the same problem, everytime I try to start up the card the system crashes. I have located the problem though and it is a conflict with my GeForce 2 MX card. I tried to change the base adress of the AVM but I do not know what adress I could use... D0000000-D0000007f keeps crashing the system as well as F..... but with E000000-E000007f the system does not recognize the card. Can anyone help me here I seem to be stuck or am I bound to stay with a Riva TNT 2 card which works fine?

Hi everybody,

I can finally tell you that I managed to get rid of the AV problem I had. It turned out to be a PCI-slot problem. It only worked on one of the five slots. Pretty weird. Whatever, it's over.

Thank you all for helping me!

ps, gandy> I'm sorry because this doesn't conclude to your problem. good luck.
