Just ready to burn my latest project to Blu-Ray.  Could do with some advice as to a good Printable Blu-Ray disc and recommended supplier.  Will also be looking at a Bluy-Ray RE for testing before commiting a non rewritable one.  Suggestions please.

Thanks Mark.  Just ordered some.  Used TBM before and agree with you.

Changed to these a while back. Not a single coaster, and excellent value.

Received the Verbatim Blu-ray yesterday.  Hopefully they will do the trick. Will bookmark the Panasonic for a try later, Arthur.  I know all the good DVD-R discs on the go but first venture into Blu-ray so new territory for me.

I was always hoping for TY-Watershield* Blu-ray printables, but they never materialised.  Too late (for me anyway) now!

(* No need for laquer-spray, and they look better than laquer-sprayed discs, too.)

Just about to burn the first Blu-ray DVD with the Verbatim discs.  Fingers crossed.  Approximately 16GB, Wow!  Reading Computer Shopper as the work goes on.  BTW just noticed that the write side is gold coloured.  Is this common for all Blu-ray discs?

"Blu-ray DVD"!!  Love it! laugh

My Blu-ray discs were/are quite dark - almost bronze - before burning.

Harry.  I've been using  Aone Blu- ray discs from Total Blank.  Never had a coaster yet after using 30 of them. They are printable and dirt cheap.  Happy Xmas to you and your family.

I've used the 80p Aone BD-R as well and found them excellent. I don't feel quite as happy about their long-term archival qualities  probably because of their price, so I use Panasonic BD-R printables at £1.50 as well.  And I like the latter's very discrete Panasonic logo in the printable face - shows clients I'm not using cheapo Aones.

Seasons greetings Tom.  Actually it was your post on another forum that suggested I use Aone BD-R discs.  I only use them for my own use and to give to a friend  now and then. I also have my videos on DV cassette tape and  on hard drives. So shopuld eventually a disc  packs up I can easily replace it.  I have just played back  a DVD disc which was one of the first to be available  It must be ten years old and it played back as if it  had just been produced.  It was a plain white non printable disc with a small logo  and the words Go.

Re: Blu-Ray Printable Discs
I am thinking about purchasing some Watershield Blurays, I really like the result with DVDs. I am concerned that they are LTH, not HTL. Is this still an issue? It isn't always clear if a BD-R is LTH or not. I also understand that HTL appear to have a longer life.
Should I stick with Panasonic? I'm not as impressed with the resulting disc face, using Epson Archival Matte on a Stylus Photo 2100, are there any better profiles?
Any comments?

Not sure they're available, and I suspect they never will be. Anyone care to correct this?

Re: Blu-Ray Printable Discs
Sorry, I didn't see your response, I understand JVC has taken over Taiyo Yuden and I saw them here, only I think they are LTH, low to high, which might have compatibilty problems with older settop players. I decided to keep to Panasonic, they are HTL, and I'm now getting better printing by uping the density.
I wanted to make copies to send to the US, I think I have sorted the 60 Hz problem although I had problems making a NTSC DVD with Vegas but Adobe Encoder managed it, (suddenly realised I had a copy with Photoshop), odd they both use MainConcept!

Yes, those JVC/TY discs are definitely LTH. I've tried them out, and they play fine in all 3 of my players. I have a printing problem though. Beautiful printing surface, but they are a tiny bit thicker than normal discs, and the rollers of my Canon ip 4800 leave roller marks. Anyone heard of a fix for this?
A bit surprised as I've also started to use Falcon 'smart guard' DVD+DL which have an almost identical surface without any marking at all.

Re: Blu-Ray Printable Discs
I found that HP and Canon printers left 'scuff' mark lines on the TY Watershield glossy DVDs and I suspect this is why MK II Watershields were brought out - they are less glossy (more of an eggshell lustre) and don't show scuff lines  but I prefer the full gloss.
Epsons print perfectly on the full gloss versions and I assume this will apply to the blu-rays too.

Hmmmmm.....looks like a new printer could be on the way soon then. Although, then if the next batch are mark 11's I'd have wasted my money. Wouldn't you think this kind of stuff is researched before a new surface/disc is released? As I said the Falcon discs are equally glossy, but they don't mark.

Re: Blu-Ray Printable Discs
I notice the smart guard surface is now available with Falcon BD-R here. So, I'll use those for clients, and keep my own 'master' copies with the JVC's till they run out. Have to say I've been impressed with the Falcon smart guard DVD+DL. I changed from Verbatim purely for the better surface, but a tad nervous about reliability. No coasters, and no reports of players not liking them. Burning at 4X as I was with the Verbatims.
