I've used Chromecast for the last few months and find it a brilliant solution for watching mp4 or mp2 video on the TV

Perfect for reviewing your edited video without burning a DVD or copying to a memory stick

Also great for watching youtube videos (Which I could already do with my Humax by pairing with my laptop)

Chromecast is worth thirty squid imho

Here's a link where you can read about it, there are other similar devices on Amazon etc.  which are cheaper, I have no experience with them.

Re: Chromecast

Have the original chromecast and the original amazon firestick.
Both have Plex installed on them , with PLEX Server running on my main pc.
Can access any of my media on any device that can run plex viewer or access plex.tv , allowing me to watch stuff in and away from home.
I also have a now-tv box , and of the three of them , the original chromecast still works more reliably than any other device.

Re: Chromecast

Hi  Gary

Are you saying that you can cast to a Now TV box as I know someone who has one of these and it  could be a huge advantage for them wink

Is this from Windows or just from mobiles using Android and Apple apps?

Thanks

Re: Chromecast

You can add plex client to the nowtv  box which allows it to stream content from the machine running the plex media server.

Re: Chromecast

I've investigated to see if my Talk Talk HUAWEI Youview box could be installed with a Plex app, nothing on the horizon at the moment,  according to the TT forums

Now that's a pity crying

Re: Chromecast

My only dealings with TalkTalk have resulted in your emoticon.
They sent me a letter saying that my new service with them on xx xx 2015 would be up and running by 6.00pm , with my original non-TalkTalk broadband being disconnected earlier in the day.

one small problem ....... i had never signed up to talk-talk , and when i queried who booked the change promised them my name was  not Mr Patel ..... both facts were denied by talk talk saying that i had signed the paperwork for the phoneline and broadband to be switched over.

i phoned BT , they checked their records , told me no change of use booked for my number

talk talk reckon that north of scotland and an area of birmingham are

a.) the same place ,
and
b.) have same dialing code.

Re: Chromecast

These firms sometimes go way off beam, probably a sales team on the make in your case

In all fairness Talk Talk have been OK with me, they had a major security leak in 2015, however I had free Anytime calls for 12 months so I couldn't complain as I hadn't been compromised

I see other companies charging much more for the same service and I've helped my Sister-in-law with a major mix up with phone switching involving a subsidiary of BT, it only took 7 months too sort it!
A case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing, mixed in with good old BT Openreach

None of these utility companies are perfect, you can only speak as you find.

Out of the blue, my brother was sent gas bills by British Gas a few years ago, 100% wrong as he lives out in the sticks and is about 10 miles away from a gas supply, probably a sales team on the make in his  case as well and BG customer service are UK based AFAIK.
