I wonder if you can help. I don't know if I need one product with many accessories or two separate products......I'll explain.....
My son is a media student who is using antiquated equipment at college. The boom they are using is hit and miss and more often than not the audio isn't being recorded with the video, resulting in them losing work and dubbing over post production. Not ideal.
.
He needs a microphone you can put on a boom pole and also detach from it and simply hold it out of shot near his waist to do a vocal piece to camera (like news reporters in the field do) It needs a furry wind cover/shell too as it is quite windy here at times. All this needs to go directly into his Canon D70 via the 3.5m input 'and' a Zoom H6 and Smartphone. Someone mentioned a "Ryecote type of system"? (I haven't a clue) The Smartphone part isn't too important providing the audio can be recorded directly into the input of the camera on some shots and on other into the Zoom H6
Second part for a new radio stations broadcast news content and possibly the college work, hardware permitting.
I need a lavalier microphone AND also need a handheld radio microphone so I can either use the lav on my own or use the wireless mic in interview situations. I don't know if BOTH the lav and wireless can run at the same time (2 feeds into the same receiver?) and I need these two microphones to fit his Canon D70 AND also be able to be plugged into either a Zoom H6 audio recorder or plug directly into a smartphone.
I know that last part may be pushing it but I'd rather the audio from everything above be plugged into the Zoom H6 over the smartphone if that becomes a choice.
On the radio interviews it will just be the lav/radio mic and the Zoom/Smartphone.
That way I can do audio myself without the need for the cameraman, as some pieces will be done requiring video and some just the audio.
Therein lies my problem. I need it to go to the D70 and go to the H6 and a smartphone. I want it so I can either use the lav or wireless mic to the D70 Or go out on my own and use either mic, lav and or radio mic, and record into the Zoom or smartphone.
What can you suggest for this please. I am not technically minded about this kind of thing, I want to spend some money on decent kit as it is for professional use. Both his college/uni work and professional broadcasting for a radio station's news output.
Thank you, budget around 1K. I've just had 9 years of chemo so if I don't immediately get things bear with me. My brain has turned to jelly.
I'm sorry you've had no reply in 6 days, this forum used to be the best on the web a few years ago but sadly no longer. I don't have a direct answer for you but (and this is probably against this forums rules but you need answers!) I'd suggest you head over to http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/ where many of the members from here have now migrated.
Thanks so much, it is appreciated

Sorry, this forum goes so slowly now that I only look in occasionally instead of every day like I used to. There was a hacking problem and the forum was switched off for so long before it came back that a lot of the regulars thoght it had gone for good :-( But it's still one of the friendliest and helpful forums out there.

The best way of interviewing like this is to use an omni reporter mic. held stationary about half way between the interviewer and interviewee - NB: most reporters I see on the TV have no idea how to use a microphone, so please don't copy them.
You have qite a low budget, so I would think that a Sennheiser MKH 600 would be the best compromise for a short gun mic. that can be used on or off camera. The K6 series with interchangeable heads is also good, and more versatile.
Use a Rycote SuperSoftie and they also do camera-mount kits and handheld kits for it.

No - ypu need a separate receiver for each channel.

Your 1k budget if far too low for any professional kit - a pro. radiomic. system is in the region of £2.5k to £3k per channel.
Your best bet is to go for the Sennheiser evolution g3 100 series which gives excellent quality for the price. Change the tie mic. for the MKE 2 version if you can as it's a professional mic. and very much better than the supplied ME 2.
If you want the radio to go to both the camera and the ZOom, then you will need two receivers for each transmitter.
I hope this helps.
Grateful thanks John for the detailed reply. Sorry for the delay, been back in hospital but a belated and grateful thanks for your time. Kindest regards
