there's a possibility that we might move to Avid from, or run in parallel with, FCP7 ( FCS2)
do you use it, and what about disc production? inc bluray

Re: disc from avid?
I run Avid and use Encore for disc production, just because I know Encore and don't want to learn the Avid/sonic version that you get with MC, main problem I have found has been field dominance issues Encore doesn't seem to read avids files sometimes, but Squeeze is ok so I do transcodes in squeeze first then make the discs in Encore.

Re: disc from avid?
Just a quick heads up. Avid DVD (Sonic) is Windows only.

Re: disc from avid?
Despite it's idiosynchrosies, I get on fairly well with Avid DVD. I export directly from timeline using 'send to' command and find it quite intuitive to create and design menus etc.
Big problem is saving work and then being unable to reopen project to update/edit. There is a way of doing this - check out the Avid MC forum for details and other comments.
End results look OK on DVD but I haven't any experience of Blu-Ray.

Re: disc from avid?
...I should also have said that I have been using Avid MC6.0 for a while without problems. I like its interface and timeline controls for editing and trimming. Also like colour correction and FX facilities. But, I've never had hands on experience with FCP!
Plenty of online help and support available to guide FCP users to MC...
