A video project, edited using Premiere Pro. was burnt to DVD.
The DVD was put on a Pen Drive to play on a Panasonic TV. It does play on a computer.
The TV process uses Media player. That got as far as displaying the usb icon.
Nothing then selected enabled the Pen Drive to play it's contents.
Can anyone enlighten me please?
You may find that the usb would play if you had the file formated to mp4 rather than the dvd file format.

Hi Les, Is your pen drive formatted to FAT 32? hth. TonyC.
Some panasonic tv's will only replay videos in avchd format
Which panasonic TV ?
Gordon: How do I change the file to mp4 please? AVCHD was orininally shot. From the DVD they are .VOB files.
Tony: Fat 32; how can I check? I'm using Window 10 and Windows 7 now and also have Vista. Previously it was Windows XP when I took up editing video in 1997.
Gary: The TV is Panasonic TX-L37G20BA. Page 66 and 67 give some information.
It is very sad to learn that this Forum will cease to exist on Thursday next. It seems the hackers won after all.
Personally I will greatly miss it. Thank you everyone for a great deal of help.
Les, plug the pen drive into a usb slot in your PC and right click on the drive letter. Then click on properties and check the File System. This will tell you the format of the pen drive.
ps. There are several postings on the web from owners of panasonic tv's who appear to have similar problems to yours.
Les
I film in AVCHD as well. With the file on my edit time line I just go to export and choose mp4. It then renders it into that format.
It works this way in all the Magix editing programmes I have had over the years and I assume there will be a similar process in which ever editing software you use.
Yes I too will miss my regular visits to the forum.
Gordon
Tony: Did as you said. It's FAT 32
Gordon: I transferred the project directly from a DVD disc to the USB Pen Drive, not from a Premiere Pro CS6 timeline and Encore.
If all else doesn't provide an answer then I'll do as you say. I'm hoping....
Thank you for your postings.

I have looked at the page you state Gary.
As you are far more expert than I you may understand it. Sorry, I don't. Thank you for telling me though; much appreciated.
Apparently I need mp4 files, as Tom stated. His USB Pen drives are mp4 and display properly on a Samsung TV.
Aparently I need to change the DVD's .VOB files to mp4 format - but how?

I would suggest using HANDBRAKE available @ https://handbrake.fr/
I use it to turn dvd ( vobs ) to mp4
once installed , start handbrake
open source
folder
point @ video_ts folder of dvd structure
it will read in all files
you can then choose a preset , or alter the options in video and audio tab
Trying to follow your instructions Gary. So far this:
8GB USB Pen drive formatted. Files from DVD placed on Pen drive (copy and paste).
Handbrake installed. It insisted to have Microsoft Net Framework 4.6 Client Profile installed.
That demanded closing HKey Tray, hkeysound, IAStorIcon, Intel Rapid Storage Technology and Power Bios Server. It did this automatically after agreement.
Apols.
I always have .net framework on all computers , and forget to check the prerequisites when recommending software.
It is a very powerful conversion program.
I do however often restart the pc after installing software , especially if it doesn't say it needs to , to make sure that the pc restarts and runs properly
This computer was restarted after shutting down.
To continue from the last post: Select Desktop icon. Gets Source select screen with the right sise darkened.
Used "Option - choose a title". Clicked File - Open single file.. That displayed all the DVD vob (and few other) files.
I pointed to VTS_01_1.VOB. That appeared in the strip "File name". Then clicked Open and Browsed for destination.
Nothing useful appeared. MP4 did show in one of the screen boxes.
On the list of presets, which is the best to choose?
Is this correct, and where to now please? And how to get on USB Pen drive. Now getting lost.
let me get some sleep , and i will put together a step by step with screenshots tomorrow
------------------------------------------
open source
select the video_ts folder , not the files inside it
select title ( my dvd is three parts , hopefully yours will be one part , if not , encode each part seperately
Select video tab , and set parameters , i left mine as 720 x 576 , 25 frames per second , and a constant quality of 22 , good enough for most tv/film re-encodes
select audio tab , and check the audio you want to add in
click on start encode.
depending on speed of pc , you will have a mp4 created very quickly
Haven't had any success so far Gary but have photographed for future use as this forum finishes today.
Thank you Gary for all your help over many years.
Did you select the folder?
Then Handbrake automatically scans the titles?
Did you select an output folder to save your named mp4 file?
You can scroll down the options to Legacy and just select Standard
Hopefully this will work before trying different encoding options
This is such an easy and effective solution for file conversion
Please tell us where your sticking point is, as the clock is ticking
Cheers
Apparently the sticking point is this:
The Panasonic TV manual states that - If a drive is formatted on a computer it will not work on a TV set.
I cannot change this as there doesn't appear to be anywhere on the TV where a drive can be formatted.
