Hi guys,
My Epson R265 is on it's last legs.
Does anyone know which current Epson printer would still allow me to use the DVD printing utility (version 1.5E) that came with the 265, don't really want to change to a different make because I have hundreds of templates that may need reproducing in the future.
Tried searching with no luck.
Cheers
I bought the Stylus P50 as a replacement for my old R300. The software is Print Utility v2.0 but is backward compatible with my old files from the R300 and even the ones from my long deceased Epson 740.

Thanks Robo, looks ideal, even uses the same inks, so I can use my CISS with it as well.
P50 + CISS works well - you need to disable the "Close cover" switch - a piece of Blutack work well. Would suggest you also add a waste ink collector on the rear if you don't already have one, about £10 from Ebay.
Yes, have one of those, looks like my search is over.
Thanks guys.
Glad to help Pete, the only 'problem' I've had so far is that it doesn't seem to like 200gm weight paper - it's fine with 180gm so not a deal breaker or anything and it may even just be my particular printer.

Nope, not just yours, mine as well.
will the P50 print to CD/DVD discs. I am using the R300 at the moment . It's the second R300 I have had. I like it, the first one still prints to paper but no longer to discs. I may need a replacement soon.
Yes, and it does it very well.

Roy, if your problem is the R300 doesn't grab/move the disc tray properly, have a look at the first post in this thread. Summary: Roughen the back of disc tray with very coarse sandpaper across direction of travel. Worked wonders for my Epson R320.
Martin. I have tried roughing up the4 back of the tray, it worked for a while, then I had to assist the tray moving into the printer by a gentle push. Now the tray won't enter whatever I do.
Oh well, shame. Worth a try as a no-cost, possible solution I suppose?
I recall using sello-tape to extend the leading edge of the tray.
Cheers.

I've tried that as well. What I do now is, use the old R300 for printing to paper and use the new one to print to discs only. This way I hope they will both last longer.
I also stuck ¼ inch strips of masking tape on the lower face of the tray and in line with the printers rollers.
Cheers.
