Just getting to grips with Encore CS6 and creating DVD. I have managed the menu and three buttons. I have set the menu to be ‘First Play’ and this it does in the preview. However, when the created disc (RW) is placed in my domestic DVD player the menu doesn't appear as expected, just a blank screen. If I press the ‘menu’ button, the menu appears, but if I press ‘Play’ then the programme starts without showing the menu.
All other DVDs in my collection as soon as the disc is inserted, the menu appears right away. I would mention that when the disc is put into the PC then it opens up at once with the ‘Menu’ as required.
I guess something I’m not doing right. Can anyone put me straight on this please? Pete.

Re: First Play in Encore CS6
If the DVD(RW) plays OK in the PC but not on your DVD Player I would suggest that there is an incompatibility problem with the player, maybe due to the RW. Try burning a DVD-R disc and see if that works.
BTW sometimes when you remove a DVD the Player remembers where it had finished and starts playing from the point where it was removed when re-inserted.

Re: First Play in Encore CS6
Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. The DVD machine in my editing space is a Sony RDR-HX525. It’s used to check all DVDs I make before passing them on. This is the first time anything untoward has occurred. (See note later). I have partially solved the problem. I dug out another DVD player and the disc plays fine as required. This machine is a Sony RDR-GX700. Both of these are quite old now but were top of the range at the time. So, as you say, this disc might be incompatible to this one player.
I have now made a DVD-R disc as suggested but exactly the same problem on the one player.
As a follow up, I have just received a DVD from a colleague with 8 chapters points. Neither of my DVD players will play it at all - just the error message ‘Cannot play this disc’. However the computers play it fine. I believe there is an explanation for this?
Thabks again. Pete
