I am looking for a 8mm play back device and just received an Hitachi VM-E368E camcorder I bought on ebay, its missing a power adapter and DC in (8.4V) lead.
Any one got one they no longer need, willing to pay for it of course.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Tony
I have nothing although I did dispose of an old defunct Hitachi camcorder for a friend 12 months ago!
Plenty of batteries and seperate battery chargers on google for your model, I couldn't find a power adapter and lead
Hi john, thanks, I cant find anything either, I bought it to copy a few tapes and as you know the battery wont last long enough to copy a full tape.
If a cant get something I'll have to get a few batteries, Thanks for your help,
Hi Tony
If you have or can find a manual online maybe the part number will give you a better chance of success?
Cheers

No, it didn't come with the camera John, cant find that online as well :)
Hi Tony,
is this a lead peculiar to Hitachi?
Can you post a picture of the power input on the camera.
I have all sorts of old PSUs so might have one if I know what it looks like.
Tony S
Thank Tony S, will try that now :)
still trying to attach the photo.
Hi Tony
You 'll need to upload a photo to an online account, then link to it
I found this US ebay link, not cheap, you can apparently select your model number from the link
Hi John, did that but still no luck attaching photo :)
Thanks for the link, so, do you think that will power the camera? thanks.
It has your camcorder listed, I think?
I was hoping it may help you to find a more local link?
Something to consider
My apologies, the hyper link as shown pointed to somewhere else, now corrected, please try again
Thanks John :)
Paste didn't work for me, I had too tap a few "......" first for paste to work :)

Thanks John, yes, its listed, the plug still looks big for the camera power socket.
Hi Tony
I think this is the same on Amazon.com

The one review said "didnt fit the slot,"
Back to square one
Thanks again, if I could get the correct plug to fit the camera, perhaps it could be soldered to another power supply? only a thought.
From the picture it looks like a standard power socket with a small pin.
This is one option
Better than a plug top supply as it is 3Amp
If you have a Maplin near to you, take the camcorder and you should be able to get a plug and a piece of cable to make up a lead
or ask for a lead and power tip selection which gives you various sizes of plugs.
It also gives you the option of powering various bits of kit of different voltages.
Try 7.5V first, if that doesn't work then try 9V.
I have one of these which I use to power an old video 8 camcorder and it works OK for me.

Hello Tony S, yes, there is a store near me, I'll take the camera with me next time. Thank you.
Another avenue to explore from http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/canon-vixia-series-avchd-hdv-camcorders/478252-9-volts-ac-adapter.html
Although the SIMA SUP-60 is discontinued now

It may be cheaper to buy another camcorder with a power lead included!

Thank you all again, I think you could be right John, I seen the camera on ebay with leads and battery and thought nothing more of it, ....until it arrived.
Its my fault for not asking before I bought, :( It was only £16/£18, so it wasn't to dear.
Thanks all again.
Tony, have a look at this - it is supposed to fit anything!

Hi Del
That's a good price, my one worry for Tony is the comments in this post I linked to previously from another forum for a Canon camcorder 8.4 volt input.
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/canon-vixia-series-avchd-hdv-camcorders/478252-9-volts-ac-adapter.html
A 9 volt AC output power pack will almost certainly fry the camera.A 9 volt DC output power pack is fairly simply modified to give 8.4 volts DC by inserting an appropriately rated (2 amp minimum ) silicon rectifier diode in series with the positive output lead.
I think it highly unlikely the camera has reverse polarity protection, as with it's own power pack it could never happen.
If you have no means of absolutely spot on determining which lead is what polarity and the idea of inserting a diode sounds like rocket science, either get someone a tad more electronically qualified or buy a new Canon power adapter.
Whatever you do, DO NOT plug a 9 volt AC output power pack into the camera.
Maybe some one can offer some qualified advice on 9 volt v 8.4 volt?
Yes, I see the problem. What would be the situation if he used the 7.5v option? Also, Tony would least find out which size plug fitted his socket!
Thank you guys for your input. I seen that comment as well. Thanks again for all your help.
the back indicates centre positive.
Some of the PSUs that I have come across come with a plug in final connector that gas two side by side pins, so that you can reverse the polarity.
They also come with a series of final plugs, so that one PSU can be made to fit several final sockets.
If you have a meter, you can check the polarity and if necessary just cut the cable and reverse it.

Thanks Dave you make sound so easy :) No I don't have a meter BTW
I'm just back from Maplin and sorry to say, they had nothing to fit my DC IN socket, even the adaptors with 5/6 different plugs ends didn't fit at all.
The assistant wasn't that helpful to be honest but she was certain, they had nothing else.
Thank you Dave again I'll keep that info in mind if I manage to get a plug to fit.
Keene electronics might be able to help?
If they feel charitable at Xmasd, they may tell you the plug size over the phone if you plead "emergency" and "ruin xmas" om the phone call.
Or carefully ( remove the battery) use a drill bit or two to size the hole/pin.
worst case, if the battery is dead, split it and fabricate a battery replacement plate that will act as a PSU.
I would think that 9v wouldn't harm something that expects 8.4v as batteries supply over and under voltage

Thank you again Dave,.... ruin Christmas :) must remember that one, its worth a try.
That trick with the battery is a good idea, I remember getting something like that done before to powering a video camera from a battery belt, I wouldn't be able to do it but its an idea.
Thanks.
Hi John,
I am searching for the exact same thing!! i have this same camera and need the power cord! any luck with this search??!? Thanks!
