I'm using Prem 5.1 with a Miro DC30+ on a Windows 98 PII 400, and all is great. My movies are in VFW format and I use Miro Instant Video.
I was looking at downloading the new Premiere 5.1a update as the idea of new transitions and filters is great (especially the aged film), but how do I get them with Quicktime (3/4?), are they part of the Adobe 5.1a download or do I have to buy them. Would I have to stop using VFW and/or Miro Instant Video?
Please Help
Thanks
Jeremy H
The filters and transitions are contained within the Quicktime package, not within the 5.1a upgrade. Once the upgrade is installed (assuming you already have Quicktime installed) you can access the filters and transitions directly from within Premiere's transition and filter lists.
I am using Quicktime 3, so I dont know whether Quicktime 4's filters and transitions are available or whether they work in the same way.
Hi,
I have been thinking about the info that I posted in response to your question. I had a look within the Quicktime files, and now I am not certain whether the new filters and transitions are located within Quicktime or within the Premiere 5.1a upgrade itself. Anyway they work a treat, so you can't really go wrong.
Shaun,
Thanks for the advice, I downloaded 5.1a and the first time everything worked fine with the new transitions(all under a new "Q" transition" and filters.
Now when I try I get the filters but not the transitions, I've checked to see if they're not hidden but they're not. I've tried reinstalling Quicktime (now ver 4), Adobe 5.1 and 5.1a but I only get the filters.
It's strange as It worked OK the first time I tried it and I tested out all the transitions and they worked fine.
Any ideas?
Jeremy
Sorry no ideas for a resolution to your problem. I am using Quicktime 3.? and I do have access to all filters and transitions, maybee this is a problem with quicktime V4. Anybody else using quicktime 4 amd premiere 5.1a, could you please post your experience of this situation. Thanks
Problem Solved!
I phoned Adobe and it turns out that somehow my Premiere prefereces file was corrupted (Prem50.prf) so all I had to do was back it up, delete it, and rerun premiere and it recreates it (though you have to tinker with it so its set up the same way as it was).
Also I'm using Quicktime v4 which works fine, except that it crashes if you try and change the angle on just one of the new wipes)
The aged film filter is great for free!
Cheers
Jeremy
