I have got the DV 300 and have so far regretted it to be honest as it simply does not want to work with my MVP3 Motherboard. I have confirmation from Pinncle that I should get an Intel based motherboard. I am considering getting a dual processor board in order to speed up rendering when I finally get the card going. I believe MSP 5 does not support dual processing and I would like to know if Adobe Premiere 5 does. Incidentally Simply Computer cards do not ship with Premiere 5.1 and you have to send off for an upgrade which I am still waiting for (3weeks).

While I understand what you are getting at, what is really needed is to have the codec be able to run in a multiprocessor enviroment. I think you will see very littly performance increase. I looked at this for myself, and it would need to be an NT system, but most of the card drivers did not support the dual processor system effectively. In the next generation real time systems then it will be another matter.
Note there are instances that if you buy a mother board that supports dual processors and only run one I have seen problems, and also note that in some systems unless the two processors are of IDENTIAL STEP (Semiconductor terms for rev level) you can also have problems.
So I'm not convinced that it is worth it. Also remember that there is a big revision on mother boards this fall with the new 133FSB etc, so if I were buying now, I'd get a relatively inespensive board and look to an upgrade in about a year.
