Does anyone know anything about the Sony KXP20 SP1 Profield Monitor? I am considering buying one second hand but can't find out much about it. Any help will be gratefully received. rmaytum@mistral.co.uk

I've got a couple that I use regularly. They are basically consumer tv guts wrapped up to look like pro monitors. Performance is adequate but lacks any true pro features. Also lacks black level clamp which is frustrating! Note that to use all input choices you have to have special remote control.
If it is cheap it could be worth it, they are very reliable in my experience.

Perry - thanks for your kind response which is very useful. Could I ask you to say how much you think I should pay for a 3-year old model in reasonable condition? (Ballpark).

Basically I will be using it only for monitoring video footage on location, indoors. Thanks - Roger Maytum

Because most of the better TV sets now offer video in, and because there are lots of cheap pro monitors around more suited to this job; I would suggest you don't pay more than £100. Depends on how much you need them? Remember this was intended by Sony as a monitor for exhibition/display/GP use. I think they stopped making it at least 5 years ago, replaced it with 'Cubic'.
