I use Creative Wave Studio (3.19.0) and AWE64 Mixer [260] Creative Mixer (5.20.0) to record audio, including from microphone, Line in and internal CDs.
When I click New Recording the window shows working recording levels, but these disappear when recording starts.
The Mixer says 'wave device reqd for LED display is already in use'.
Thus I cannot monitor levels while actually recording.
Or can I? How?
Try Goldwave or Cool Edit, both have real time metering, I use Goldwave a great deal, it also has real time waveform display and other goodies. Both are available for download from the web.
Thanks for that, I am aware of alternative software solutions, but I thought I might be missing something on the Creative offering. To be specific - is it possible to display a recording level while recording in the Creative software? If not, then I'll move on to something else.
I mis-read your original problem slightly, Sorry. I dont know your sound card or software so what you are experiencing maybe a limitation of either. I suggest you try Goldwave and note if the real time meter works while recording. If it does not then it is probably a hardware limitation, otherwise you may be able to fiddle with Creative Wave Studio to enable real time metering. Can you try installing Creative Wave Studio onto another (different) PC/sound card to see if it works on that PC with metering as you wish?
