Please don't reply if you use PLUS - use the other. I thought it might be interesting to see how many replies go to each question.

I use both! -R/-RW on the PC, and +RW on my Philips set-top recorder. Mixed up or what?

99% -r on a Sony +/- burner. I only use + discs if I know there to be a problem with -r, although this is exceptionally rare.

So you can now see the initial findings suggest an 80/20 split in the - to + users and those who can burn to either predominantly use -. The ones who use + are usually doing so because they have a +r burner.

The initial results are what I would have expected judging by the previous topics on this forum.

What are your conclusions Dave?

I don't really have any conclusions, other than I'm going to stick to -R.

I've had no returns bar one. That seemed to be disc damage - not format choice as they had another -R as a replacement and didn't have anpther problem.

Also, -R discs are cheaper.
I might upgrade my burner to a 106/7 but it would cost me - for what benefit?

It is interesting that the +R seems so unpopular

-R for everything that we send out. +RW for testing (discovered it writes faster than -RW on our kit).

considering people are saying they use mainly -R
that its cheaper what happens when sony's dual layer burner gets going? as looking at its specs its +R for dual layer

I`m a -R(RW) on both my PC writer and on the Panasonic stand alone. The only difference is the Panasonic writes only -R (no-RW) and -R Ram

-R on an A04. Looks like -R wins by a mile on this board at least. Were Philips just out to circumvent the Pioneer royalties when the introduced the +R?

I've just bought a Pioneer 107 (dual format).

When I was looking for disks (R & RW), the price decided the matter for me. Minus disks were cheaper (not much, mind, but why throw money away :D ) so I bought a stock of -R and -RW.

They work OK in my Toshiba stand-alone player, which is all that matters at the moment.
