When closing down a Windows 7 desktop computer there is always the message not to switch off as an update is downloading.
The update presumably fails as this message is repeated at every close down.
How can the cause be located please? It would be good to stop this constant occurrence..
It seems the update causing this trouble is 80073712.
How can this be dealt with please ?
Can't remember how I did it but I cancelled updates.
Hi Les, there are several postings on the net about 80073712, and I found a link which appears to sort it if followed completely. You may or may not wish to pursue it.

You may have noticed that John Price no longer engages in solving user problems, which I think is a great pity, but I believe that his efforts to find solutions to members' questions has gone very much unrewarded for a long time and I know that he has better things to do with his time.
He appeared to be the only active Moderator, which does'nt say much for the future of this forum. Just my observations and people may disagree with them. Tony C.
Thank you Tony,. I have looked at that but it's another program asking for payment. It may, or may not, work.
Seems the only way to be rid of this is to revert to a previous time, suffering the consequences..
That way an unreplaceable Canon program (CD Label Print) will be lost.
It's impossible to re-install that program again regardless of appeal to Cannon.
Les, I may be able to help re the Canon CD Label Print programme, I have the discs that came with my iP7250 & I use the programme all the time!
That way an unreplaceable Canon program (CD Label Print) will be lost
Les, did'nt you have the label printing software supplied with your printer? ( Canon MG 6350 if I recall )
I think that you have raised this before.
That would be great Barry, if it will install correctly after a return to an earlier time. Please correct me if wrong -,
Doesn't the actual printer that the disc was supplied with have to be connected to the computer during installation?
The printer is a Canon MG6350. The installation disc that came with that printer did install the CD Label Print that I wish to keep on this desktop computer..
For a later computer (laptop) the same printer was connected and the same installation disc used. This installed the replacement program for CD Label Print.
The saved images will not run with that program. It probably means the installation came via the internet rather than being on the disc, although the disc was used
Emailing Cannon several times they absolutely refused to supply the older (wanted) program.
To get back to the original problem: To eradicate this problem the Desktop computer must be returned to a very much earlier time - so I am told.
If this is done the wanted program will not be there, and it will not be possible to ever use it again. All saved images will then be useless.
Sorry this is so lengthy but I hope it explains the probable problem. Thank you very much for your kind offer and your posting.
As a last resort the computer was restored to 22 August 2015. That was no better. The next restore brought it back to the present .
Another restore reversed it to 05 January 2015. The update problem was resolved. The CD Label Print program appears unaffected.
Computer was rather slow compared with its earlier performance but seems to have improved. Time will tell.
Thank you for the postings.
Glad you have resolved the problem! I could have let you have a copy of either the iP4700 or the iP7250 CD`s but I couldn`t work out why you needed to contact Canon unless of course you had lost the install discs. I run that printer from one particular PC but I also have the CD print programme on another & access the printer across the network.
Re your requests to Canon, are you saying that the programme is no longer available with newer printers or just that they wouldn`t help?
I'm saying the program is no longer available from Canon. Discs for the MG6350 were to hand..
It would be good to have CD Label Print on a laptop, but not possible if the printer, with which the program came, must be connected to computer for an install.
The printer that died was a Canon i865. The disc for that printer will not install on Windows 7 although CD Label Print WILL run on Windows 7.
Today there was a problem with browsers. Using I.E. or Firefox, from a desktop shortcut, produced a message " Couldn't load XPCOM".
AVG Anti-virus needed a plug-in to work that could not be provided. That has now all been resolved..(The AVG had to be installed again as it was lost on the restore)
One last inconvenience; At all times the (busy) small revolving circle moves with the (arrow head) cursor of the mouse.
That does not affect anything selected.
Now it's installing 54 updates at shut-down. Normal shut-down now is 8 seconds!
I`ve been searching for my install disc that came with my iP7250 without success! I know I had it in May of this year when I replaced one of my PC`s, I was going to try to install the programme on my laptop to see if it were possible. I do run the software on another machine as well which connects to the printer via my network, sorry I can`t help further.
Hi Les,
I do have the CD print installation file (cdlpwin141en.exe) on my hard drive. If you would like it I could send it to you as a .rar file. It is 9.669 KB. Just let me know where to send it.
Tibor, if possible, could you also send it to me please ☺ to barry at videos4all dot org as I can't find my copy! Cheers
Sent. Please let me know if it works for you. I downloaded it over 3 yrs ago.
Many thanks Tibor, I asked for it as a just in case situation.
Thanks again, Barry
Glad I could help.
As a matter of interest:
The computer, at yesterdays shut down, then had an annoying "busy" circle that moved with the mouse (arrow) cursor.
There did not appear to be a method to removing this.
Using the computer today; it first installed the 54 updates and took some time to configure Windows.
That busy circle annoyance then disappeared.
Tibor: if your CD Label Print will work, can I please have it?
Just popped in for a look see after many months, sad to see how this forum has gone down, I suppose I'm as much to blame for failing to support it but it really looked to be going nowhere and all the better known names seemed to just fade away. Les - a search on Google for cdlpwin141en.exe bought this up - http://files.canon-europe.com/files/soft30999/software/cdlpwin141en.exe - direct download from Canon.
Till the next time I'm passing by.....
Good to see you dropping by Foxy :-)
Les, if you have problem downloading it, let me know. Or if you still want me to send it, just tell me where.
Thank you Fox. Downloaded and working now.
Nice to see you back. Please stay.
