I have now acquired the insyallation disc for windows 7 pro and a dealer has told me that it is possible to run Windows 7 and windows XP together on the same PC. He did not know how to do it but his son was not there. Has anyone else heard of this and do they know how to do it. I would be interested in case the installation of w.7 doesn't work if I have to install it myself.
Windows 7 (Pro version, I believe) has a "Virtual PC" mode (needs a big download first though from Microsoft) that allows you to run XP in a window - for compatibility with old applications. May or may not be what you need?

Your post very unclear Roy.
Are you saying that you're trying to upgrade your Windows XP computer to windows 7, but want to keep Windows XP?
If so yes, this is possible. Google "dual boot Win XP Win 7" for instructions.
Mark. I have bought a full version of Windows 7 and I want to know if I can install it on my PC and still leave the XP on the same computer. I had visions perhaps of installing w.7 on a different hard drive on the same PC that is running XP. Not being a great technician I don't know if this is possible.

add second hard drive to pc.
start windows 7 instal from dvd
when asked where you want to put it choose disk 2 ( i suggest you name the volume on disk one to windows_xp or similar )
install onto second drive , windows 7 will install a small bootloader on drive 1
look on google for ''dual boot xp and windows 7''
Gary, Thanks for info
