Hey, here we all are talking about hardware and software, capture card this and capture card that, does anyone of us finally get around to producing any videos?
I think we are all forgetting about the whole reason we spent our money on this stuff.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all take a break from the stress that can go into putting a NLE system together, and instead sit back and watch each others master pieces.

I think that all of us who make up the bulletin board should put samples of our work on the internet so we can all have a look at what can be done with these systems, and we can all learn from each other that much more.

We could all do it. All you have to do is download a piece of free software called RealEncoder, which will turn your videos into streaming vids that can be played back using RealPlayer.

Next, you have to then is register some web space (again this is free) and upload your vids for all of us to see!!!

Hey Bob C, maybe this could develop into another thread?

What do you think?

Hi there,

I'm sure at some point people are going
to tell me to stop posting, but...

I've make a Pop Video at -

idlechild.net

or

http://www.idlechild.net/video/standalone.mpg

It's in MPEG format (the best) and also
in RM streaming format (the absolute worst).

If you set up a site with links to sample
videos, which sounds really good, then
link mine in please!

have fun,

andy

As a relative newcomer to the video editing arena I must agree with the first part of the topic. I have spent 6 weeks getting the damn thing to work before getting a minute of video out to tape that I am half happy with. I contacted Pinnicle to try to help and £15 later I was no further down the raod. In the end a chance installation of some drivers which were not supposed to go with my card made it work. But this was after may people on this board had offered advice and help on how to set-up the PC but all drew a blank at the problem I had. I was amazed to find just how many problems people have. If I were the boss at Pinnicle I would be wondering what is wrong with my products that so many people have problems. I know that there are thousands of PC & Mac setups out there and they cannot possibly cater for all machines but to have over 800 members to this board with I would imagine at least one problem at some time, there must be some help they (Pinnicle) can offer us as users that doesnt cost 25p per minute at least for the first month of purchase.

I would like pinnicle to contact me as I have emailed them 3 times without response. If you email in the UK all you get is "We dont give email help, ring the helpline. I rang the help line, it took over 5 days to get through to someone and it proved to be that the card I had was faulty. BUT I STILL HAVENT HAD ANY OF MY PHONE MONEY BACK!!!!!!#

Not that I expect it from these companies, once you buy the card you are on your own.

hi,

A bit off topic, but it took me 6 months
before my system worked. (lip sync probs.)
Initially, everything just crashed, but
downloading new drivers fixed that.

During this time I sent several e-mails
to tech support, until they finally
started to bounce my e-mails! In the end
newsgroups were the best place to find
useful help and information.

It then took another 5 months before I
finished the Pop Video.

All in all, it does take time!

Getting back to the main topic, is there
going to be a page/site set up for linking
to people's work?

have fun,

andy

Andy

Downloaded and watched your pop video, very impressive. I shoot mostly weddings but some corporate and occassional news footage for regional TV. Yesterday a prospective corporate customer (a bathroom suite manufacturer) asked if I could supply an internet ready copy of his video on CDrom.

Soon we may all be producing work for the net, like it or not.

Regards

Gavin
